Łukasz J. Wielebski

Technology & R&D leader

I help technology organisations grow when their existing way of working is no longer enough.

I have over 20 years of experience in technology — from infrastructure and software development to leading a multi-team R&D organisation.

Approach

Where I bring the most value

As a company grows, its challenges rarely come from technology alone.

  • Too many decisions start to depend on a single person.
  • Boundaries of responsibility become less clear.
  • Strong experts are pushed into management, even when it is the wrong path for them.
  • Knowledge stays in the heads of a few people.

At these moments, I help organise ways of working so that people, knowledge and responsibility can scale alongside technology.

How I work

I speak engineers' language

I spent years on the technical side of the table, but I do not try to be the most technically knowledgeable person in the room.

Linux operations · sysops/DevOps · cloud · Python · PHP · Java · JS

Decisions closer to the problem

I work with leaders and experts to clarify responsibilities and the flow of knowledge, so teams can make good decisions themselves.

Developing people is part of leading

I develop new leaders and support experts who want more impact without a traditional management role. Autonomy makes delivery more predictable.

Knowledge people actually use

A knowledge base should help people work independently, not become another repository nobody reads. In one team, better onboarding and documentation cut time to full effectiveness from 12 to 5 months.

Experience

Perspectives I have worked from

FIBARO · Roche · Allegro · Wikia/Fandom

Multi-team R&D45 people · firmware to mobile

I led a 45-person Software R&D organisation spanning firmware, backend, cloud/DevOps, frontend and mobile. Working directly with team leaders and an architect, I was responsible for people, recruitment, organisational development, budgets and collaboration around the roadmap and architecture.

Changing how teams workseveral product teams · waterfall → Scrum · monolith → services

I led several product teams through significant technological and organisational changes. I developed leaders and delegated responsibility while supporting a transition from waterfall to Scrum and the gradual extraction of functionality from a monolith into services.

Technology and specialist domainssoftware · UX · bioinformatics · scientific R&D

I worked at the intersection of software development, UX, bioinformatics and scientific R&D. In these environments, domain knowledge, communication and the ability of different specialists to solve problems together matter as much as technology.

Scale, operations and security400+ servers · 60M+ monthly visits

My experience includes environments with 400+ servers serving 60M+ visits per month. I was also responsible for infrastructure, high availability and security, as well as collaboration between teams across countries and time zones.

Influence without formal authoritystakeholder management · facilitation · leading change

I have also worked in environments where change did not come through reporting lines. I built it through collaboration with executives, managers and experts. This taught me that influence comes not only from a place in the organisation, but also from trust, a sound diagnosis and the ability to bring people towards a shared solution.

I like building things

Technology still draws me in.

IoT and prototyping

IoT, automation, smart homes and 3D printing — I like to see how things work.

An AI agent environment

My own agent setup, built on thoughtful automation, control over data and verified results.

Security and resilience

Security and resilience designed in from the start, not added after a problem.

I work best where responsibility for delivery goes hand in hand with responsibility for people, structure, knowledge and collaboration with the business.
